This is not a 360 photo tour or a triangle mesh. From a series of photos of a real space, we reconstruct it as a cloud of millions of tiny, semi-transparent points of light, so-called gaussians, each carrying information about color, shape, and how it reflects light. That lets us recreate, directly in the browser, not just the layout of a room but subtle reflections, glass transparency, and material texture, the kind of detail a traditional 3D scan cannot capture.
The method itself is only a few years old and still evolving fast: rendering quality, data compression, and load times keep improving month by month. Our engine loads each scene gradually, in increasing detail, adapting to connection speed, and is built to take on further improvements to the technology as soon as they are production ready.
